Simple Home. Simple Life.

Welcome to the Spring Cleaning Sprint.

Want to do it naturally?

We spend most of our time at home, so it should promote our best health. One of the ways to do that is by cleaning with all-natural products that don't leave chemicals and toxins behind.

Here's the easy way to begin

You don't have to get stressed about spending a lot of time or money on switching to natural cleaners. Just start with an all-purpose cleaner using ingredients that are no doubt in your pantry already.

I use the all-purpose cleaner for wiping down counters, cleaning sinks and tubs, window washing and scrubbing floors. It's strong, will cut grease because of the lemon oil and will disinfect with the lavender oil. I have a glass spray bottle with this cleaner under the kitchen sink and keep an extra mason jar of it on hand.

If you're ready to begin the Spring Cleaning Sprint, mix up a batch of this all-purpose cleaner and pour some into one of your empty spray bottles from store-bought cleaners.

P.S. - if you want to know the benefits of using natural cleaners over most store-bought ones, here you go

All-Purpose Cleaner

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 10 drops lemon essential oil
  • 3 drops lavender essential oil

Optional - some people like to add a drop or two of dish detergent - I like to when cleaning my floors - it's up to you!

FYI - don't use vinegar on granite or marble countertops - it can etch them over time. Switch out vinegar in the formula for rubbing alcohol instead.

More Easy DIY Natural & Sustainable Cleaning Hacks

  • use baking soda to scrub grime and build-up in sinks and showers
  • use lemon essential oil to clean stubborn grease and even that stuck-on goo from price tags and tape
  • use baking soda and vinegar to unclog and clean out drains
  • skip the paper towels and even the microfibre cleaning cloths in favour of cotton rags from old t-shirts or linens. It's a great way to repurpose, save trees, save our oceans, and save money.
