Need to get rid of bad carpet or vinyl flooring but can't afford hardwood or other new floor options? Get out the paint! It takes a little work, but DIY painted floors will only cost you a can of paint and maybe a stencil. With durable options like deck paint, it will outlast even the heaviest traffic. If you're lucky enough to have plank flooring, you can achieve a great cottage feel with white or patterned floors. But even the average plywood sub floor boards painted out look amazing. And it's great for the planet too, since it's way more sustainable than buying new flooring or carpeting. Just make sure to choose a no-VOC paint!
